At a Special Stockholders’ Meeting held last 22 June 2023, Ms. Rosechin Olfindo-Hamanaka was elected as Director of the PRIMEX Board of Directors, replacing Mr. Mitsuhiro Ogiya, who has resigned for work-related reasons.
Ms. Hamanaka is an economist with work experience in government, international organizations, and the private sector. She has excellent skills in economic and social policy analysis, research, and quantitative analysis. She worked at the World Bank Headquarters in Washington DC and in the World Bank Manila Office, where she provided advisory services and analytics to country operations. She also worked at the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Headquarters in Manila, where she provided technical and management support to regional technical assistance projects. In the early days of her career, she was a staff member of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) and a consultant to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). Ms. Hamanaka has sole-authored empirical research articles in international peer-reviewed journals. She holds a BS in Business Economics and an MA in Economics, both from the School of Economics of the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman. In addition, she obtained a Master in Public Administration (major in International Development) degree from the prestigious Harvard University in the USA.
Ms. Hamanaka is currently a Senior Economist at Oriental Consultants Global (OC Global) in Tokyo, where she manages and/or provides expertise in projects funded by multilateral development banks and other international organizations. At present, she is managing the Integrated Economic and Tourism Study in Sudurpaschim, Nepal, an ADB knowledge and support technical assistance (KSTA) project. She is also co-managing the European Investment Bank (EIB) loan-funded Irrigated Agriculture Improvement Project (IAIP) in Cambodia, where PRIMEX is the lead firm in Joint Venture with OC Global. Ms. Hamanaka is likewise the Research Associate/Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) Specialist of the PRIMEX Team implementing the Scoping Study on Barriers to Innovation for NEDA.
