PRIMEX Assistant Manager awarded as Distinguished Alumna by the College of Dev Com in UP Los Baños

The College of Development Communication (CDC), University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), awarded PRIMEX Assistant Manager for Operations, Ms. Lourdes Margarita A. Caballero, as one of the five distinguished alumnus for 2016. Ms. Caballero was recognized for her contribution in the field of knowledge management for development.

The awarding ceremonies were held on 9 October 2016 during the 98th UPLB Loyalty Day at Baker Hall. UPLB Chancellor Dr. Fernando C. Sanchez Jr., CDC Dean Dr. Ma. Theresa H. Velasco, and CDC Alumni Association President Mr. Sherwin Joseph C. Felicidario presented the trophy and the certificate.

She also shared her message during the event “Speaking of Devcom: Conversations with Devcom’s Finest” at CDC on 10 October 2016. The distinguished alumni reflected on their experiences, shared their wisdom, and shared valuable lessons in their respective fields of expertise.

The other awardees for CDC were the following:

  • Ms. Joy Rivaca, Technical Officer (Risk Communication), Division of Health Security and Emergencies, World Health Organization Western Pacific Region (Distinguished Alumna in Risk Communication in Public Health);
  • Dr. Karen Eloisa T. Barroga, Chief Science Research Specialist, Dev Comm Division, Philippine Rice Research Institute (Distinguished Alumna in Agricultural Extension and Communication);
  • Dr. Hafied Cangara, Professor, Department of Communication, Hasanuddin University (Distinguished Alumnus in Communication Education); and
  • Mr. Ranel Martin Dedicatoria, Regional Program Manager, ICLEI-Local Government for Sustainability (Distinguished Alumnus in Climate Change and Integrated Resource Management).

Ms. Caballero finished her undergraduate degree in CDC, cum laude, in 2003 with six medals including Best Undergraduate Research and UPLB Outstanding Student Leadership Award. As a member of PRIMEX staff since 2011, she has served as the Knowledge Management and Communication Specialist for several projects funded by the Asian Development Bank.

This includes the Coastal and Marine Resources Management in the Coral Triangle Southeast Asia; Regional Climate Projections Consortium and Data Facility in the Asia and Pacific; and the Decentralized Framework for Sustainable Natural Resources and Rural Infrastructure Management, Philippines.
