PRIMEX President and CEO Elvira C. Ablaza attended the Wrap-up Meeting of the ADB Midterm Review Mission of the loan-funded Cambodia Water Resources Management Sector Development Project (WRMSDP) in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on 13 February 2015. She was accompanied by Mr. Leo R. Pura, PRIMEX Vice President for Technical Services, and Mr. Dy Tith, Managing Director of CADTIS Consultants, Ltd., PRIMEX’s Cambodian partner in the implementation of the project.
The Wrap-up Meeting was chaired by H.E. Veng Sakhon, Program Director and Secretary of State and attended by the ADB Mission led by Mr. Piseth Long, Senior Project Officer of the ADB Cambodia Resident Mission (CARM) and by representatives of the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology (MOWRAM) Project Management Office (PMO), the Provincial Implementation Units (PIUs) I the three project provinces, the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), and the Project Management Consultant (PMC) Team led by Dr. Jose A. Galvez, International Water Resources Management Specialist/Team Leader, and Mr. Prum Viratha, Deputy Team Leader/National Water Resources Management Specialist.
The Midterm Review Mission, which was conducted from 2-13 February 2015, was satisfied with the progress of project implementation, particularly the civil works and farmer water user community (FWUC) development components. The project registered a physical accomplishment of 55% vis-à-vis an elapsed time of 51%.
WRMSDP aims to rehabilitate existing small- and medium-scale irrigation systems, form and strengthen FWUCs for sustainable operation and maintenance (O&M) of completed systems, and strengthen the administrative capacity of provincial and district level staff.
