MIDP scoping workshop

On 24 May 2018, the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) and PRIMEX signed the Consulting Services Contract for the Formulation of the 10-year Maritime Industry Development Program (MIDP) for the period, 2019–2028. The main objectives of MIDP formulation are to: (i) comply with the statutory requirements of the Maritime Industry Decree of 1974 for MARINA to formulate a 10-year MIDP; (ii) implement the applicable provisions of Executive Order (EO) No. 5, series of 2016, on the adoption of the government’s Ambisyon Natin, 2040and the Philippine Development Plan (PDP), 2017-2022; and (iii) incorporate the country’s maritime-related commitments to international agreements, conventions, protocols, and codes.

“This is an important project for PRIMEX because this is our first project with MARINA, and it is line with our Company’s diversification strategy, both in the country and in the Asia-Pacific region. PRIMEX has a solid track record in assisting government agencies in strategic planning and institutional development in the last 29 years. We are confident that this project will succeed, especially with the full engagement of MARINA’s top management led by Administrator Rey Leonardo Guerrero.”

MIDP formulation will be carried out in two phases. The first phase, Sector Analysis, will be implemented from June to mid-September 2018; and the second, the Planning Phase, will last from mid-September to December 2018. Both phases will engage MARINA and other key maritime stakeholders to ensure their ownership of the MIDP and enlist their involvement and support during its implementation.
