PRIMEX wins its first railways project

The Joint Venture (JV) led by DCCD Engineering Corporation and including PRIMEX as one of five JV partners bagged the Consulting Services Contract for “Program Management, Construction Management, and Capacity Building of the Philippine National Railways (PNR) Capital Improvements Projects.”

Contract signing was held at the PNR Executive Building in Tondo, Manila on 12 August 2015.

General Manager Engr. Joseph Allan C. Dilay represented PNR during the contract signing, while the JV partners were represented by their respective chief executives: Mr. Michael P. Reyes, President and COO, DCCD; Ms. Elvira C. Ablaza, President and CEO, PRIMEX; Dr. Angel Lazaro III, Managing Partner, Angel Lazaro and Associates International (ALAI); Mr. Angel M. Santiago, President, Engineering and Development Corporation of the Philippines (EDCOP); and Mr. Herve Laumond, Vice-Chairman, Systra Philippines, Inc.

PRIMEX Senior Vice President for Technical Services, Engr. Estelita Y. Gutierrez, and Vice President for Technical Services, Mr. Leo R. Pura, witnessed the contract signing. They were joined by other management representatives from the JV partner firms.

PRIMEX has been expanding its transport and infrastructure portfolio, so we are thrilled to be part of this JV. I know that our solid experience in capacity building and project management will contribute to the success of this project,”

The PNR project will run for 18 months, from August 2015 to January 2017, and includes seven components, namely:

  • Track rehabilitation from Alabang to Los Banos, Laguna;
  • Double tracking from Sucat to Alabang;
  • Track ballasting for Hondagua Subdivision;
  • Railway bridges and repair rehabilitation;
  • Restoration of station building including platform and passenger shelter improvements;
  • Repair of six diesel multiple units; and
  • Rehabilitation of rolling stock/locomotives.
