Detailed Narrative Description of Project:
The project aimed to increase household income by enabling agrarian reform beneficiary (ARB) farmers and their organizations to engage in more profitable income-generating activities on a sustainable basis through the provision of agricultural and agri-business development support, rural infrastructure and capacity development in the target settlement areas. Project activities included: (i) expansion of agricultural and increase in productivity through provision of farm and market roads; (ii) development of value chain-based enterprises and agribusiness of ARB organizations based on market demand; (iii) provision of water supply facilities in underserved barangays and sitios; (iv) enhancement of environmental conditions; and (v) upgrade of capacities of local/people’s organizations to increase competitiveness of ARBs, small-scale farmers, and indigenous peoples in agriculture and agribusiness.
PRIMEX provided the services of specialists in agro-economics, social development, rural infrastructure and bridge engineering, and project benefit and results monitoring and evaluation (M&E) to: (i) provide technical assistance in agriculture and agribusiness development component of the project and assist in establishing viable agribusiness enterprise/s, with primordial focus on the economic viability of producing agricultural products in the settlement areas; (ii) ensure the participation of prominent stakeholders in the identification and planning of sub-projects within their communities/villages/ancestral domains; (iii) execute the services for all infrastructure development including road and bridge development sub-projects, especially engineering works for the major structures; and (iv) design the PBRME system, which should be consistent with the overall design and implementation framework of the project, and establish a community-based monitoring system (CBMS).
